The Welsh Streets Mural
Definitely a case of simple works best with this one. Big, bold, white text in block capitals makes it quite clear where you are here - THE WELSH STREETS! The mural (is it a mural?) on the gable end works really well. There is something about the minimalism and boldness that just works!
Done for Placefirst as part of their wider redevelopment of the Welsh Streets area of Toxteth, Liverpool. The area recently received some stardust as it was extensively used in the BBC drama, Peaky Blinders. It is not unusual to see Tom Hardy (Alfie Soloman) or Cillian Murphy (Thomas Shelby) around these parts.
Although this was one of my simpler pieces, there is always a lot of measuring up to do when it comes to text, especially at this scale. It works really well with the Victorian brickwork.
