Katarina Johnson Thompson Mural
This mural marks Paul's 250th mural. @britishgas sponsored this to celebrate KJT's Liverpool roots and her journey to the Olympics through sheer hard work and motivation.
KJT and British Gas chose the statements featured in the mural which is believed to be the biggest in Liverpool to date measuring 30 metres high and 12 metres wide. This is Paul's second-largest mural to date, with Ainsely and Dale being the largest.
Katarina Johnson Thompson is primarily known for competing as a heptathlete and pentathlete, representing the UK in the Olympics since 2012. The record holder and title winner at the Commonwealth Games is a well-known household name in the UK. She now has two large murals celebrating her achievements in her hometown, both hoping to inspire younger generations to follow the path she has followed.
Thanks to @and.freeman for persevering with Paul to get this project in motion. Thanks to Councillor Christine Banks for helping source the wall and thanks to DBD Liverpool and @bally84 for securing wall permits.
A special thanks to @excelsior_liverpool & @lovelockscoffeeshop for allowing the use of their facilities during the painting.
Champions mural
Paul was honoured to be able to paint these portraits of @johnsonthompson and @jackhstt at St Marks Primary School in Halewood, he was even luckier to get to meet them both.
This mural was part of a big collaboration between @britishgas @teamgb and @paralympicsgb_official as part of the build-up to the @parisolympicgames in 2024. As part of the collaboration a 5-year partnership with @teamgb & @ParalympicsGB, they will reach up to 1 million children & families to inspire the next generation to learn more about how everyone can be more energy efficient.
KJT is a World Champion and Jack is a Commonwealth Champion in their respective sports, they will both go to Paris in 2024 with high hopes and all the UK's best wishes in bringing some medals back to Liverpool.
Once the media circus settled down, they spent the afternoon talking to the pupils and hopefully inspiring a new generation of athletes (or artists).
Thank you to @and.freeman and BCW Global for making this happen.
