I wanted to express my deepest gratitude to each of you who generously contributed to the fund. I was truly moved by the outpouring of support, and by the kindness and love you’ve shown for the brothers. Their untimely passing remains an immense tragedy, one that still weighs heavily on us all. However, through this project, we had hoped that something positive, however small, could come from such a terrible loss.

I apologise for the delay in bringing this to a close. Unfortunately, there were several reasons for this. Initially, our intention was to donate the funds to a foundation set up by the family, but this has not yet materialised and, at the moment, is not set to happen in the immediate future. We also wanted to ensure that the donations would not fall victim to fraudulent charities – sadly, there was an shocking incident reported in the news, where a website deceived donors out of around £45,000.

I reached out to the club to help me, and they have kindly arranged for the funds to be managed by a sub-foundation within the LFC Foundation. This sub-foundation will be dedicated solely to supporting causes in the name of the brothers. I believe the JOTA shirt sales alone raised over £100,000, and it is with great pride that we are able to contribute this sum to their legacy. The funds will be used to support grassroots football initiatives in both Liverpool and Portugal, ensuring their legacy continues to make a positive impact.

This Saturday (13th Dec) at 12:30 p.m., I will have the honour of presenting the cheque to the LFC Foundation on your behalf.  We will also be unveiling a bronze plaque in the brothers' memory. As you are an integral part of this project, we would be delighted if you could join us for the occasion.

Once again, my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. If you are able to attend, it would mean a great deal to us to have you there.  If you can’t, please keep a look out for the coverage online next week.
